Day 1

Auckland City

Arrive in Auckland and, depending on your flight arrival time, we will meet you at Auckland International Airport, ensure that you are happy with your rental car and give you a folder with relevant vouchers, maps and brochures.  We will also provide you with a GPS pre-programmed with accommodation and golf course addresses, etc.  After collecting your rental vehicle, take the 25-minute drive to downtown Auckland where your accommodation is at a 4½-star central city hotel.  The hotel is conveniently located on Queen Street, Auckland’s business, shopping and entertainment heart. This evening you may wish to dine at Sky City’s Orbit Restaurant which offers fine dining and spectacular views of the city and surrounding region.

Day 2

Gulf Harbour Country Club

Gulf Harbour Country Club

You have a 45-minute drive to Gulf Harbour Country Club.  Gulf Harbour is one of New Zealand’s top golf courses and designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr; the course has been likened to Pebble Beach Golf Links, and hosted the 1998 World Cup and New Zealand Opens in 2005 and 2006.  Four sets of tees assure playability for every calibre of golfer.  In particular, the back nine holes offer spectacular cliff-top views of the ocean and surrounding islands.

After golf, take the 3-hour drive to Paihia in the Bay of Islands.  The Bay of Islands is one of the most picturesque and popular holiday sites in New Zealand, combining great outdoor experiences with some of New Zealand’s most significant historic sites.  Your accommodation is in 5-star apartments, located along the waterfront in Paihia and a short walk into town.  On arriving in Paihia, take the opportunity to explore this picturesque and historic area of New Zealand.

Day 3

Bay of Islands Hole in the Rock Dolphin Cruise

This morning you may wish to take a cruise around the beautiful Bay of Islands, keeping a look out for common and bottlenose dolphins, whales and other marine life.  Enjoy the views as you cruise past the Cape Brett Lighthouse, before arriving at the majestic Hole in the Rock – hold your breath as the skipper navigates through the narrow space and admire the rock walls which soar above you. Take in the Grand Cathedral Cave before heading back into the sheltered waters of the Bay and an island stopover at the historic Urapukapuka Island reserve.

Waitangi Golf Club

Waitangi Golf Club

In the afternoon, play golf at Waitangi Golf Club which combines a good golfing challenge with well-groomed fairways, areas of flowering native trees and some panoramic sea and island views.  It opened its new 11th hole recently where the green is right on the water’s edge and has been described by some as “the best golf hole in New Zealand”.

Day 4

Carrington Resort Villas

This morning take the 1½-hour drive to the Carrington Resort where you will be staying for the next two nights.  The resort is set on 3,000 acres, incorporating 4 spectacular kilometres of secluded white coastline, a Matt Dye designed tournament standard golf course, regularly ranked in New Zealand’s top 20 golf courses, an acclaimed Northland vineyard and winery, a working farm and 900 acres of restored wetlands. For the rest of the day enjoy a round of golf and the beautiful surroundings of the Carrington Resort.

Day 5

Peppers Carrington Resort

Peppers Carrington Resort

Today, enjoy a day at the Carrington Resort, including a round of golf.  If you wish, you have the rather unique opportunity in New Zealand of playing the first 9 holes, taking your electric cart through the tunnel under road and up the hill to the winery where you can enjoy lunch and the wonderful views before continuing with the rest of your golf round.  Whilst at the Carrington Resort we recommend taking the 10-minute drive to spectacular Matai Bay, a beautiful, sandy, horseshoe-shaped bay which ranks amongst our favourite in New Zealand.

Day 6

Kauri Cliffs

Kauri Cliffs

Today, take the 1-hour drive to Kauri Cliffs, the sister course to Cape Kidnappers.  This is a real golfing highlight with superb facilities and world-class playing surfaces which has fifteen of its holes with views of the Pacific Ocean. The setting and scenery are truly breath-taking and it is easy to see why it was placed 19th in the top 100 courses outside of the US for 2012 by Golf Digest.  After golf, you have the choice of either taking the 45-minute drive to Paihia and staying the night there or alternatively taking the 3½-hour drive back to Auckland (the time of your return flight the following day may influence your decision.

Day 7

Depending on the time of your return flight, we can make recommendations or bookings for activities before you return your rental vehicle at Auckland International Airport before checking in for your departing flight.
